Role
Design + build, end to end
The brief
A bespoke perfumer who composes a scent from a client's own history, not from a shelf. The site had to feel like a private atelier rather than a shop, sell scarcity honestly, and turn a browser into a commission.
The approach
The whole site is written as correspondence, not catalogue. Long editorial columns, a serif set at magazine scale, and a running "current slate" counter (8 of 12 commissions reserved) that makes the limited capacity a fact rather than a marketing line.
The commission flow is staged like an intake interview, one question a screen, so a $2,000+ purchase feels considered instead of transactional.
Warm gold on near-black throughout, so the one product photograph on the page carries all the colour and everything else stays quiet around it.
commission, not cart
